GLEN ELDER RESERVOIR (WACONDA LAKE) – Situated in the North Fork of the Solomon River Valley, Glen Elder Reservoir is the 3rd largest lake in Kansas. The lake is also known as Waconda Lake, named after the Great Spirit Spring, the natural mineral spring which lies beneath the lakes waters. Prior to construction of the reservoir in the 1960’s the Waconda mineral spring was a geologic phenomenon for Kansas and the mineral waters were believed to have heeling powers. Today, Glen Elder Lake caters to thousands of recreational visitors, hunters, anglers and its proximity along the Central Flyway offers refuge for millions of migrating waterfowl and other avian species.

KANOPOLIS LAKE – Located in the heart of the Smoky Hills, Kanopolis Lake is a picturesque reservoir located along the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway (Hwy 141). The area is known for its sandstone hills, unique rock formations including Mushroom Rock State Park and Farris Caves. A short drive from Salina, KS; Kanopolis Lake is an excellent retreat for recreation, hunting and geologic interest.

MILFORD LAKE – Kansas’ largest lake is located approximately 4 miles north of I-70 and lies just northwest of Junction City, KS. Milford Lake boasts some of the best fishing opportunities in the Midwest making it an ideal reservoir to host numerous professional and amateur fishing tournaments each year. The north end of the lake, near Wakfield, KS is one of the largest wetland areas in the state, teaming with wildlife and migratory birds.

WILSON LAKE – Located among the rolling, mixed-grass prairie hills of central Kansas’ Smoky Hills region in an area affectionately referred to as Post Rock country is Wilson Lake. Renowned as Kansas’ Clearest Lake, this 9,000 acre reservoir boasts abundant outdoor recreational opportunities. Camping, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Hunting, Fishing, Sailing and Scuba-Diving are just a few of the numerous activities enjoyed at this geologically unique lake and wildlife area.
